I thought I'd lost this file--and I had, in the morass of files that have built up on my data drive. But in the process of organizing, I unearthed it once more. I'm thinking the title of this post will drive up my number of hits, in direct proportion to the quantity of confounded browsers that quickly click the "back" button.

Wisp
Sometimes magic is conjured for no other purpose than to remind the caster it's there, somewhere between the head and the hand, coiled like a spring, ready for work.

Candleholder
I've been thinking about what I'd like for a home studio. Need to upgrade my computer, that's first. I have a digital camera. A flatbed scanner would be nice, and a Wacom tablet (or equivalent). I have a drawing table already. Of course, best of all would be if I could get these items together in one single room, entirely my own. But that leads into discussions of realty and financing and home shopping, so...
The fellow above me here is tonight's creation. I felt like I just needed to make *something* even if it wasn't an evolutionary-leap-par-excellence. As always, more to come...

Fire Worm
Fire worm cannot leave the box...
So, this is me trying out a very, very simple animation drawn right inside Photoshop. Just to see how it would look & feel to work that way. And I must say, the implications are making me smile.
This was 51 frames. I'm positive I'm doing this the hard way--I got a glimpse of AfterEffects and it can probably make something like this with one gig tied behind its back. Nevertheless.
Fire worm cannot leave the box. Or can he...

Formian Function
Still accomplishing this in Photoshop with the puppet warp tool. I know I need to branch out--I could incorporate some changing filters or something to add a dramatic effect. But what I really want to do is figure out a way to make something that's really in motion around the page. "Lucinda" was close to this, but has some strange wobbles about her. Well, anyway... here's something new for the week. I'm not sure who this little fella is preparing to face off against, but he looks intent.

"Lucinda"
Another quick experiment--less than an hour to make. I think maybe it's time to get "serious." Though I do like the spontaneity of these rapid sketches. Next one, though, I'll wait until I have a few more hours to spend. There is something very satisfying about seeing one's drawings come to life this way.

The SEA Manifesto
Having been recently introduced to the concept of moving images--more specifically, the idea that I might actually be able to produce them myself--this blog will be my repository for creations as I begin to explore the medium. I have one rule for myself here: only original creations will appear in this blog, which means entirely original, from the initial hand-drawing to the final animation (see: loafing cat above). Comments, ideas, and requests are welcome.
